Welcome Professional Custom Parts Machining and Mold Service Provider
Investment cast, also known as lost-wax casting or precision casting, is a metal casting process that involves injecting molten metal into a pre-made ceramic mold. The mold is then broken apart to reveal the solidified metal part. Here are two major sorts.

Carbon steel is an iron-carbon alloy with a carbon content of 0.0218% to 2.11%. Generally, the higher the carbon content in carbon steel, the greater the hardness and strength, but the lower the plasticity.
Cast aluminum has the advantages of low density, high specific strength, good corrosion resistance and casting processability, and little restriction on part structure design.
Cast stainless steel refers to cast steel that can resist environmental corrosion.
Cast titanium alloy refers to titanium alloy that can be cast into a certain shape of casting. Most deformed titanium alloys have good casting properties and can be used for casting.
Copper alloy is an alloy composed of pure copper as the matrix and one or more other elements.

PqMold can help improve the surface qualities of your products by offering a diverse range of surface finishes. Surface finishes on your customized parts aim to improve their appearance, surface hardness, and roughness, chemical and corrosion resistance, and so on. Here are some of your best options.
Anodizing improves corrosion resistance, enhancing wear resistance and hardness, and protecting the metal surface. Widely used in mechanical parts, aircraft, and automobile parts, precision instruments, etc.
Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Unlike conventional liquid paint which is delivered via an evaporating solvent, powder coating is typically applied electrostatically and then cured under heat or with ultraviolet light.
Electroplating can be functional, decorative or corrosion-related. Many industries use the process, including the automotive sector, in which chrome-plating of steel automobile parts is common.
Polishing is the process of creating a smooth and shiny surface, either through physical rubbing of the part or by chemical interference. The process produces a surface with significant specular reflection, but in some materials is able to reduce diffuse reflection.
Brushing is a surface treatment process in which abrasive belts are used to draw traces on the surface of a material, usually for aesthetic purposes.

Find answers to common questions about investment casting, including wax pattern creation, tooling design, achievable tolerances, surface quality, and suitable alloy materials. Learn how PQMold ensures precision, consistency, and reliable production for complex and high-detail metal components.
Investment casting, also known as precision casting or lost wax casting, is a manufacturing process in which a wax pattern is used to shape a disposable ceramic mold. A wax pattern is made in the exact shape of the item to be cast. This pattern is coated with a refractory ceramic material.
Investment casting is extremely accurate and near net shape. Since metal components are created by using the same wax pattern, this accuracy can be maintained from casting to casting.
The steps within the investment casting process are as follows:
Step 1: Engineering Review
Step 2: Mold Design & Build
Step 3: Wax Pattern
Step 4: Ceramic Mold Construction
Step 5: De-waxing
Step 6: Foundry & Pouring
Step 7: Shell & Casting Removal
Step 8: Finishing
Die casting uses reusable molds while investment casting uses disposable molds for each new cast. Die cast parts may require some post-processing to achieve desired finishes and dimensions, while investment casting generally requires little to no additional processing.
At its core, the investment casting process is simple: create a model, form a mold, and pour the metal. At most traditional precision metal foundries, you then wait anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks or more to get your part.
Investment casting shells also have limitations on their size and depth. They cannot be smaller than 1.6mm or deeper than 1.5 times the diameter. If your casting design requires cores and cannot fit these requirements, you may need to seek another process.
